Submission Guidelines
The Blue Mountain Review is a Southern publication — but we do not define the boundaries of that interpretation. That is up to you, the artist. We publish every two months and accept poetry, fiction, microfiction, essays, and photography.
Universal Guidelines
Submit to the Journal
Any style is accepted. Any length is accepted. Please submit no more than three poems per issue, all in a single Word document with one poem per page.
Submit PoetryFor fiction: one prose piece per issue, no more than 2,500 words.
For microfiction: 1–3 pieces per issue, no more than 300 words per story.
Please note in your bio whether you are submitting full fiction or microfiction.
Submit one essay per issue, no more than 2,500 words, in a single Word document. All the universal guidelines above apply — cover letter, third-person bio, 12-point Georgia.
Submit an EssaySubmit Your Book
Submit a synopsis, your target audience, and 10 pages of poetry. Include any marketing or promotional ideas you have gathered or implemented. Your name and contact details must appear in the document. Manuscript must be no more than 100 pages, double-spaced, 12-point Georgia, one poem per page, left-aligned.
Submit ManuscriptSubmit a synopsis and your first chapter. Specify which genre your collection is in (fiction or non-fiction) and your target audience. Include your name and contact details. Formatted in 12-point Georgia. Essay collections are also welcome.
